About this artwork
This painting was one of his 1st studio responses to the coronavirus lockdown. In a bleak period of anxiety he needed to get into a better frame of mind. This was his free and spontaneous reaction. Unable to get out into the landscape he painted these flowers with exuberant freedom. He hopes you enjoy the richer colour palette and the gestural brush strokes. It is painted on canvas board.

Credentials
- Experienced Artist
« My work is a joyous celebration of the English landscape, abstracted into colorful patterns. »
U.K.-based painter David O'Connor knew from the age of 10 that he would be an artist. This set him apart from his nine brothers, most of whom are engineers. O'Connor begins with the memory of a place, creating basic sketches and occasionally referencing photographs, but quickly allows the painting to develop a life of its own. O'Connor works with acrylics in order to create multiple layers, adding a kind of archaeology in each painting. Jewel-toned and evocative, O'Connor's landscapes beautifully balance abstraction with remembered topography.
