About this artwork
The Broken Soul I–V series explores the theme of inner turmoil in a consistently abstract, material-oriented visual language. Each work features a central, relief-like form that stands out against the black ground in various color codes—green, violet, red. Pasty acrylic layers, cracks, bubbles, and depressions create a sculptural, almost organic surface that visualizes vulnerability, fragmentation, and inner heaviness.
The choice of colors contributes… to the psychological differentiation: green stands between vitality and toxicity, violet between spirituality and melancholy, red as a symbol of blood, passion, and pain. The black background functions as a negative space, reinforcing isolation and demarcation and emphasizing the existential presence of the sculptural color mass.
