About this artwork
This piece is part of my cake series and represents the courage to step outside your comfort zone.
The soft, sky-blue pastel forms resemble a dreamy cake landscape, symbolizing the gentle but brave act of moving into the unknown.
The rounded, cloud-like textures evoke a sense of hope and quiet determination, inviting the viewer to imagine a world where every step, no matter how small is an act of courage.
Daye Park is a South Korean painter with BFA and MFA degrees from Kyung Hee University, working primarily in oil pastel, watercolor, and mixed media reliefs. She masterfully combines traditional Korean painting techniques and folk symbolism with radiant Brazilian influences, sculpting tactile, semi-three-dimensional surfaces using clay accents. Her distinctive style celebrates the merging of two cultures, luminous color, and poetic softness. Park’s art is a heartfelt exploration of migration, longing, and connection; her works radiate warmth, love, and the tender courage to remain true to oneself across distances.
