"The spiral is one of the motifs which seem to have fascinated man since prehistoric times. We can say that for most traditions the spirals are the symbol of the creation and the evolution of the whole Universe.
Galaxies, seashell swirls, snail shells, water flow in a conduit, the spiral arrangement of sunflower or pine cone seeds or even in the form taken by the growing stems of certain climbing plants, endowed seeds wings in the shape of helices… like that of the maple, buds whose leaves are folded in spirals ... all of Nature seems to be obsessed by the shape of the spiral. Every time in the Universe, there is a movement of expansion or contraction, there is a spiral, which reminds us of the famous phrase of Pythagoras: "When he creates, God geometries" ... "

Dayva Achikhman is a Russian artist currently based in France. Her work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions across the country for more than a decade. Using acrylic colors and India ink, Achikhman creates modern, geometric artworks in vivid rainbow pallets as well as black and white. Her works are incredibly detailed and multifaceted varying between abstract forms and concrete subject matter.
