About this artwork
This stunning abstract expressionist painting captures the essence of a bright summer day by the sea with vibrant blue and turquoise hues, punctuated by large luminous areas in white and beige that create an almost blinding effect, like sunlight on water.
Created with a combination of painting knives and foam rollers, the work has an energy and movement that is palpable, with gestural, energized strokes that animate the composition.
It's as if the… viewer is standing by the rocks on the shore, watching a playful and agitated sea on an exhilarating summer day.
By the rocks has the raw, emotional power of abstract expressionism, evoking both the beauty and the turbulence of nature with its fearless use of color and form.
It is a work that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in the movement and energy of the piece.

« In the beginning, the mind is as blank as the canvas. Then the hands begin their dance, the heart chooses its colors, and the emotions their expression. »
Delphine Bernard is an artist based in France whose paintings have been widely exhibited in Singapore and Indonesia. She compares each of her compositions as being like a vision or a dream and characterizes her artistic process to being "shamanistic". Bernard creates intuitively, allowing her hands to "dance and play" with colors on the canvas. Her vibrant compositions are created using acrylics on canvas.
