About this artwork
In "Ladhak 5," Delphine Bernard captures Himalayan majesty through bold abstraction. A cobalt blue river cuts through vibrant crimson cliffs, echoing the prayer flags adorning Ladakh's mountain passes. This color dialogue references Tibetan spiritual traditions marking this sacred landscape.
The lower canvas transitions to turquoise and emerald greens, suggesting fertile valleys nestled between harsh terrain. White accents evoke high-altitude sunlight… on glacial waters.
Bernard's gestural technique—vertical sweeps suggesting towering peaks, horizontal strokes creating expansive terrain—captures both physical ruggedness and spiritual essence. Through dynamic abstraction, the painting transcends mere landscape to embody Ladakh's intersection of natural majesty and cultural heritage.
Painted on quality acid free paper made especially for painters, framed with acrylic-glass protection available in white or black, ready to hang. Frame is 60X80cm, black or white.
« In the beginning, the mind is as blank as the canvas. Then the hands begin their dance, the heart chooses its colors, and the emotions their expression. »
Delphine Bernard is an artist based in France whose paintings have been widely exhibited in Singapore and Indonesia. She compares each of her compositions as being like a vision or a dream and characterizes her artistic process to being "shamanistic". Bernard creates intuitively, allowing her hands to "dance and play" with colors on the canvas. Her vibrant compositions are created using acrylics on canvas.
