About this artwork
In "Ladhak 8," Delphine captures the vibrant essence of Ladakh's sacred landscape through explosive abstraction. Dominant scarlet reds surge across the canvas, like Tibetan prayer flags adorning the mountain passes, carrying blessings on the wind. They play with bright yellows, turquoise blues, and verdant greens—all colors of traditional prayer flags—creating a visual symphony of spiritual significance.
Bernard's gestural work suggests both physical… landscape and energetic presence. White accents evoke snow-capped Himalayan peaks, while turquoise recall sacred lakes and rivers. The dynamic composition, with its swirling movement and bold contrasts, mirrors the vertiginous experience of walking through Ladakh.
Literal representation is transcended to convey the emotional and spiritual impact of Ladakh's breathtaking terrain and rich cultural heritage.
Painted on quality acid free paper made especially for painters, framed and ready to hang.
Frame is 60X80 cm, black or white.
« In the beginning, the mind is as blank as the canvas. Then the hands begin their dance, the heart chooses its colors, and the emotions their expression. »
Delphine Bernard is an artist based in France whose paintings have been widely exhibited in Singapore and Indonesia. She compares each of her compositions as being like a vision or a dream and characterizes her artistic process to being "shamanistic". Bernard creates intuitively, allowing her hands to "dance and play" with colors on the canvas. Her vibrant compositions are created using acrylics on canvas.
