About this artwork
Taken from the series "Slow Down" in the fashion art book "NITA: An Impossible Dream"
Shot in Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia, wearing haute couture gown by Elie Saab.
*printed in Paris on Hanhemuehle 300g fine art paper
A simple phrase that carries so much weight.
The tallest task for me, sometimes, is to be present in the moment...to allow the world around me to happen on God's time and without worry.
A simple phrase, yet so much weight. Even heavier… was the worry about tomorrow that my mother did her best to remove from my mind with her simple phrase:
"Slow down, DeMarcus."

DeMarcus, a former athlete and self-taught photographer, creates fashion and beauty photographs inspired by his own vivid dreams. He mixes studio and natural lighting to render a sublime, dream-like quality to his artwork. Themes of liberty and motion - stemming from his athletic background and work in prisons - weave a vivid tapestry of human strength, elegance, and freedom. Ultimately, he molds his chaotic dreams into a beautiful madness, compelling viewers to feel a sense of boundless liberation and through visual poetry.
