About this artwork
During the same period, another device also took off, adding to our collection... the Game Boy! From the original Game Boy Cube to the Game Boy Color and then the Game Boy Advance, I spent hours playing Pokémon and Zelda. I also had the Game Gear, a direct competitor from Sega, with Sonic and Street Fighter!
In my memories, these games accompanied me on the road to our holidays. We crossed France to get to the ocean, all I needed was a few spare… charged batteries and I was good for the whole journey!
Besides handheld consoles, I only got a PlayStation much later, because my mother wanted to keep me away from it. But at my friends' and cousins' houses, we played a lot. GoldenEye on Nintendo 64, Super Smash Bros. on GameCube, Crash Bandicoot on PlayStation 1, Tekken on PlayStation 2... So many memorable moments we shared together! Guaranteed laughs!

Denis Verdier's work initially revolved around a recurring theme: flowering blue cacti rooted in antique vases. An outsider in the plant world, the cactus intrigues with its contrasting spines and flowers. Thanks to its anatomy, it is able to survive in hostile deserts.
