MATERIALS: Oil painting on canvas. The artist aimed to recreate the smooth glass-like quality of some classical paints while still giving it energy. This piece was created with finely-ground, pure oil paints with an Alkyd based medium. The sides are painted in a Black Iron Oxide and the piece is finished with a clear, protective archival varnish for easy care.

Dennis Crayon is an award-winning American painter who has exhibited his works throughout the United States. In 1998, he attended a six-week architectural dig in the ancient ruins of Pompeii. The remarkably well-preserved ancient frescoes and murals would change the course of his creative journey and inspire his artistic vision. Crayon employs his background in classical painting techniques and trompe l’oeil in his oil creations.
