About this artwork
A continuation of the theme created in "Stirring." When I am printing, I am working quickly and with purpose. Building a formative color based on the first pass, printing and mixing proceed over several passes; the color changes with each pass. My own observation of the work is always partial profiles, silhouettes of faces. Other viewers come away with their own impressions.
Don Woerner is a painter, printmaker, and visual artist with a background in design, trained at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and deeply influenced by Bauhaus principles. He employs innovative printing and stamping techniques with materials like woodblocks, paint sticks, canvas, denim, and mixed media, focusing on lyrical abstraction, energetic layer-building, and an ecstatic, physical approach. His works invite viewers to construct personal meaning and embrace new perspectives, ultimately stirring inspiration by engaging the urge to discover the unexpected and connect emotionally with art on a profound, individual level.
