And sometimes, you notice — almost in passing — that your words haven’t been heard.
That they’ve simply floated past.…
When someone stops and removes their headphones, you have to repeat yourself. Slightly embarrassed.
As if a small, casual remark has suddenly taken up more space than it should.
What you say is ordinary, almost insignificant.
But it asks for a pause.
