About this artwork
These works reveal my concern with approaching the feminine theme from a new perspective. I have particularly expressed my interest in developing an aesthetic proposal free of all labels and capable of fitting into the canons of gender treatment free from a sexist perspective.
From my male perspective, it is a challenge to avoid falling into historical assumptions of women as objects, or the use of the female figure associated with the marketing… of products and services in a society dominated by consumption.
To do this, I have set myself the challenge of drawing inspiration from the work of Gil Elvgren (Minnesota 1914/1980), one of the best-known and most famous pin-up illustrators.
Pin-ups were not just a decorative motif in the calendars of the 1940s and 1950s.
Their carefree attitudes shaped a new role for women in their empowerment, with simple attitudes that were consistent with an irreversible process of change.
