About this artwork
This work is part of the "Everyone Sees Their Own" series, created in 2011. The series explores various social issues through visual metaphors.
Globalization represents an inevitable stage in the evolution of humanity — a process of global integration and unification across economics, politics, culture, and technology. It brings the world closer together, fostering interdependence through international trade, migration, the spread of information,… and cultural exchange. But globalization is not only about connectedness - it also comes at the cost of individuality. C’est la vie.
This series was submitted to the Sony World Photography Awards in London. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it into the finalists, which was disappointing, as I had confidently reached the Top 10 in the two previous years and was hoping for a hat-trick. But, as they say — it wasn’t meant to be.

In his work, familiar objects lose their recognizability; reflections and the distortion of light and shadow transform them into indeterminate forms. The artist’s distinctive style was shaped by a medical condition—visual agnosia—which causes a periodic loss of the ability to recognize objects.
