About this artwork
The scene depicts two figures: one awake in a silent, almost cosmic posture, the other asleep, enveloped in a sheet studded with stars. Between them, subtle red threads – carried by two luminous birds – materialize this invisible link… that connects the visible to the invisible, the tangible to memory, presence to absence.
"The Present Absence" is a visual meditation on the persistence of invisible connections, on the memory that lives in the brilliant darkness of our inner world, and on the mysterious beauty of what we do not see but deeply feel.

Oil painting, with its slowness and depth, allows me the time for these inner visions to emerge. I draw inspiration from the Symbolists and Impressionists, but also from the Surrealist women artists who dared to make their personal lives a territory for poetic exploration. My works borrow from nature, myths, and folklore to evoke universal archetypes—metamorphosis, memory, solitude, and light.
