About this artwork
The idea of the painting was to create a pleasant combination of light and dark shades. I made a big effort combining bright yellow with turquoise blue gradually flowing one to another. This is why the central figure needed some natural earth colours to balance with such vibrant background.
The audience is watching the performer critically, but they forget that she is the only one actually doing something simple but exciting. It is easy to criticise,… hard to perform.
It may be difficult to find similarities, but while painting this piece I was influenced by Goya's "Hechizado por fuerza" and Vuillard's "Flowered dress".

Egle Colucci is an experienced artist from Lithuania whose paintings have been featured in solo and group shows internationally. Creating art ever since she was young, Colucci paints fantastical scenes in oil on canvas featuring characters that deal with themes of boredom, vanity, noise, and lack of space. Architecture and people are highly featured in her work, filling busy compositions with surrealist details and curious narratives.
