About this artwork
The background is split in half. On the right side, the white-blue and red colors indicate serenity, innocence, renewal and perhaps salvation. The other half is painted with dark blue mixed with light blue, signifying blind faith and devotion. The essential figure is still embedded in the background. The inside of the head is painted with a mixture of deep purple and dark blue, signifying that this head holds all secrets, all painful feelings and… all mental pain inflicted. From the right side comes salvation! It is the gift of purity, spiritual and emotional absolution and deep faith in recovery from physical and mental damage.
EL MORA, affected by early illness, found solace in painting. His style shows African influence; color plays a role in the psychological meaning of his art, opening a window into his feelings and thoughts. His works reveal a brutal honesty and tell stories of love and intense personal experience, evoking joy and pain in viewers in equal measure.
