About this artwork
The original drawing from which the print was taken dates from 1973, when I was a young artist.
With "The Head 2" a new era began on my artistic journey and marked a significant transition from the previous work "Head 1" from 1973. I began to deal intensively with the art of pen drawing. While oil painting was purely decorative for me, only the undisguised directness and precision of pen drawings enabled an authentic embodiment of the essential.… The pen, relentless in its clarity, demands not only talent but also masterly skill. With each subsequent drawing my pen stroke became more precise and inevitably formed into my unmistakable signature.
