About this artwork
This portrait is one of my most personal works. I spent a year refining it, not just in technique but in meaning. As a Leo, I often see myself in strong female figures; here, the short hair symbolizes transformation during a difficult time, when I left my village as my husband recovered from spinal surgery. The golden background reflects responsibility as strength and love.
The painting stayed at my parents’ home in Kherson through the war, while… I spent two years in the U.S., far from it and from everything I had left behind. Now back in Europe, I feel it is ready to be seen. Retrieving it is a delicate process — van from the frontline, my father’s help, export documents, customs broker — but fully prepared. Within 8–10 days it can be delivered to me in Wrocław and then shipped to its new home.
