About this artwork

I would like to apply a poetic comparison to edelweiss flowers with mother-of-pearl pearls or radiant silver stars, because they grow near the very sky. No wonder in France the edelweiss flower is called the Alpine star, and in Italy - the silver flower of the rocks.
Edelweiss is the flower of Prometheus. Because it grows on the rocks, to which the hero, the protector of people from the arbitrariness of the gods, was chained.
This flower settles… at a dizzying height of 1700-2300 m above sea level. At all times there were many hunters for this rare plant and it is almost destroyed. Protected by law.
And I, as an artist, wanted to draw this beautiful rarity)

Elena Ivaniuk is a Ukrainian artist whose paintings have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally. The central theme in her figurative works is women. Describing her artistic expression as being conceptual, Ivaniuk especially enjoys painting in black and white. For her, this simplicity expressly conveys what she endeavors to "tell the world". She often creates using a palette knife with oils on canvas.
