About this artwork
STORMY WATER III is about the forces of nature and, at the same time, it deals with an optical illusion as it contains two images: depending on how one looks at it, it could be an image of cliffs surrounded by raging water or an image of black holes in the abstract grid of unruly lines.
Eleonora Bourmistrov works as a painter, installation, conceptual, digital, and photographic artist with a background in fine arts (Master in Fine Art, Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London) and philosophy (PhD, LMU Munich). She combines object-based painting, immersive, site-specific installations, and experimental material techniques with semi-realistic figures in introspective, simulacratic depictions. Her works, mostly characterized by desert-like landscapes, illusion, and mysticism, convey a powerful blend of stillness, spirituality, and deep emotional tension, leading viewers on a meditative inner journey.
