About this artwork
The painting was inspired from the experiences of people who were diagnosed with mental illnesses.
In this, "Drama" is a painting that is about the struggle of people experiencing enhanced stimulus whom were often told off as "way too dramatic".
Heightened sensitivity towards perceiving environment is a red sign for people to check up on their mental health.
Therefore, this artwork has many strong strokes of texture, high saturated colors, and… conflicting elements. All depicting the heightened experiences that are often overwhelming.
The main object is a fiery heart. A strong heart object, made in the middle of the canvas. Heart is a source of emotion. The fiery depiction is to convey that a passionate, vigorous heart is the core to confront drama. Albeit so, the key is trapped inside a cave-like greyish area, filled with stalagtites ans stalagmites. The cave thus becomes a barrier from confronting the dynamic elements outside.
