About this artwork
This oil painting depicts a tree with various fruits, simultaneously blossoming and bearing fruit. Theoretically, such a thing is currently possible through genetic engineering, but practically speaking, it's unlikely to work. A paradise on earth, disturbed by a raven. Traditionally, the raven symbolizes transience, and the wormy apple in the lower right and the withered leaves also evoke vanitas symbols familiar from traditional Dutch still-life…
paintings.
