About this artwork
"Behold, children are an inheritance from the Lord" (Psalm 127). No halos or heavenly thrones are needed. A window is enough, a slanting ray of light, a mother holding her child and gazing upward, as if already foreseeing what is to come. The child is almost naked, his arms outstretched—almost a reference to the crucifixion—welcoming the light as they will, one day far away, welcome the weight of the world. The mother holds him tightly, but already… offers him: it is the silent gesture of every woman who generates life, knowing that that life will not belong to her forever. This painting is an Annunciation without angels and a Crucifixion without nails: the beginning and the end touch in the same ray of sunlight. It is the oldest and newest story there is: a mother, a son, the light, and the mystery of what it means to be a gift.
Emanuele Attadia primarily works in painting, enriched by a family background steeped in art and a technical background in environmental engineering, which lends rigor and structure to his compositions. He adopts a figurative style bordering on hyperrealism, imbued with symbolism and poetic tension, where light reveals profound meanings and detail becomes the voice of the soul. His works evoke silence, introspection, and human fragility, inviting the viewer on a contemplative and spiritual journey toward the most authentic part of themselves.
