About this artwork
My work continues in the background a journey started by my grandfather and then my father after him, and
this in a more or less unconscious way. In fact, my grandfather Marcel Reychman put
point Paul Grimault's animation system. The King and the Mockingbird, the first film I saw in my
life, was my first aesthetic shock. The images of the robot from The King and the Mockingbird became anchored in
me since childhood. My father, himself an artist,… has a collection of old toys and robots
mechanical devices that filled the shelves of the apartment I grew up in. My choice of
artistic subjects as well as the childlike look with which I imagine my works is the fruit of this
double universe. this painting is part of a series called Robot, slave of tomorrow
Emma Iks, from an artistic family background, excels in drawing, painting, engraving and sculpture. She deploys an angular, robotic and geometric style, mixed with spontaneity and an instinctive drive. Imbued with memories of her childhood and her long travels, including West Africa, her works question the relationship between robots and man. Her pieces evoke a contagious curiosity, with a childish and playful tone, while awakening our questions about technological domination.
