In this work, I explored the vibrant and playful energy of pop culture by pasting copies of my own collection of PAC MAN magazines that I read in my youth. I painted animal faces in acrylics inspired by trips to Mali. Here I contrast the negative with the positive, giving a nod to photography but also to the Ying and Yang that resides in each animal and more generally in each human being. The style articulates naiveté and art brut to visually challenge… the viewer, tinged with vintage nostalgia. Through these iconic and expressive faces, I invite reflection on media consumption and the impact of comics on our daily perception. Each element of this creation brings dynamism and color, inviting jubilant and critical reflection.
Emma Iks, from an artistic family background, excels in drawing, painting, engraving and sculpture. She deploys an angular, robotic and geometric style, mixed with spontaneity and an instinctive drive. Imbued with memories of her childhood and her long travels, including West Africa, her works question the relationship between robots and man. Her pieces evoke a contagious curiosity, with a childish and playful tone, while awakening our questions about technological domination.
