About this artwork
Transmutography, another technique I created, in which the initial images change in appearance using digital techniques and then add resin, is the work I started with is Andy Warhol's "The Shadow." I wanted to contrast it more, highlighting the difference between his weak and uncertain image and what he was—a person with a shadow like everyone else. Around it, I placed a black and white self-portrait with his signature, separating the signature,…
which in turn becomes a work in its own right, to underscore the artist's entrepreneurial spirit, who transformed the image of a commodity into art by commodifying it. I then inserted his icon par excellence, Marilyn Monroe, with her image, which he immortalized, a shot of Niagara. A character full of shadows, whom I wanted to represent with bright colors, like the joy she instilled. Then I added resin only in a few places that gave me greater material prominence, as the work was already rich in meaning.
