About this artwork
This painting, Transubstantiation, is a celebration of the Latin Rite Catholic Mass at the moment when the priest elevates the host and the supernatural presence of the Holy Trinity. In creating this piece, I poured my soul into capturing the essence of spiritual transcendence. The rich oils allowed me to weave depth and emotion into every brushstroke, creating a lifelike tableau that both honors tradition and sparks contemplation. The vivid realism…
draws the viewer into a moment of sacred ceremony, bridging the corporeal and the divine. It is a testament to faith, a vivid reminder of the intangible power of belief, designed to imbue any space with a profound and serene energy.

« I aspire to paint a profound moment, a glimpse into the tragic or sublime human experience that transcends culture, religion and time itself. »
As a child growing up in a small city in the United States, American artist Eric Armusik found artistic solace and inspiration in the paintings hanging in the Gothic church he attended. This inspired his exquisitely detailed portrait series, depicting mythological and religious figures. He works primarily with the medium of oil paint and charcoal, choosing to paint directly on wood, masonite and AlumaCorp in the style of Old Masters such as Caravaggio.
