About this artwork
This work is about a musician who, when playing his base, at the same time made love to his instrument and attacked it ferociously. The more fascinating his music became, the harder he punished the base. Even when Ezendam made this portrait he continues to worry about the base. He knew the musician was all right; he enjoyed these sessions tremendously and the artist wanted to keep what he had experienced in his own way too. In full colours of course.

« Art is my life. I can disappear in my drawings and paintings, even in such a way that I later on can be surprised about the result: ‘Did I do this?’ »
