About this artwork
Jazz has always influenced painters. Fernand Léger dedicated numerous paintings to jazz. Otto Dix, whose magnificent Metropolis is exhibited at the Quai-Branly museum. Conceptual artist David Hammons has created an installation dedicated to John Coltrane. Jean-Michel Basquiat, a jazz enthusiast, painted more than 30 paintings in homage to Charlie Parker and Billie Holiday. Yet here I didn't want to paint jazz groups or musicians.
Just like Kandinsky,… it was really the music that had to articulate my entire work on canvas. This creation was painted while listening to jazz for a long time; for me it was a matter of freely transcribing the music heard. So there are instruments, sounds, a melody and specific rhythmic accompaniment. A work full of energy which will be appreciated as much by a lover of abstract art as by a lover of jazz.
