About this artwork
This artwork, a vertical diptych, celebrates the vibrant colors and emotional landscape of Valparaíso. Deep blue tones evoke the sea and sky of the port city, while vibrant vermilion engages with luminous white, creating a contrast that suggests the architecture perched atop the hills.
Subtle touches of orange burst forth like flashes of sunlight on the rooftops or reflections of sunset on walls weathered by time. The reference to the El Peral elevator… introduces the idea of movement and ascent, a symbol of the transition between the everyday and the poetic, between earth and air.
The whole conveys a sense of verticality and elevation, where color becomes a language of urban memory and the balance between the sea and the height.
