About this artwork
The title is a reference to the song "All along the watchtower" by Bob Dylan, which later became a classic by Jimmy Hendrix. A "watchtower" stands in the center of the picture, marked in blue (yet dissolving into the background of the picture), surrounded by numerous elements, both aggressive and poetic at the same time. Maybe you can even see a large bird in the picture on the right with its wings spread or a flying object. The "orange-yellow" gives…
the image great intensity, especially due to the strong contrast to the blue. Everyone can decide for themselves whether the colors yellow and blue refer to current times in a special way, but it is not mandatory. The picture is characterized by a highly chaotic dynamic, which at the same time experiences a special harmonization through the overall concept, which, together with the choice of colors, can have a reconciliatory and positively propelling effect, just as Jimmy Hendrix's musical treatment of the theme did.

Ernst-Martin Heel is an artist living in Germany. Over the past decades, he has presented his work to an art-loving public in numerous solo exhibitions and his pieces are included in private collections in the USA, Spain, and Switzerland. His art has been reviewed in various publications and national newspapers such as the WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung). His paintings explore fundamental forces of existence in their upheavals, while maintaining an abstract and expressive formal language. However, the inherent chaos finds a rigorous harmony in his art. The principle of "floating" as a fundamental element of life is consistently reflected in his predominantly dynamic paintings.
