About this artwork
The picture lives from delicate color transitions. It dispenses with the eruptive upheavals that are so typical of Heels' images. And yet the same applies here: "With the many superimposed glazes, which allow the primeval grounds to shimmer through the relief, Ernst-Martin Heel creates perspectives that draw us in, which develop an increasing pull as we approach them" (Frau Dr. Jutta Höfel, 2021) In running the diagonal, only three color fields emerge… with yellow, bordered by a contrasting lilac flashing briefly, only to dissolve at the same moment somewhere in the background with the shades of yellow, orange, lilac and primarily white. Curves executed with a pencil reinforce the coherence of the colored image structures in this picture as well. The picture conveys a "touch of colour" ("romantic step") and, if you want to get involved, takes you into wide, bright rooms and a liberating contemplation.
« For some, the motifs of the highly expressive pictures by the Bonn artist Ernst-Martin Heel resemble a natural event. -Kölner Rundschau »
Ernst-Martin Heel is an artist living in Germany. Over the past decades, he has presented his work to an art-loving public in numerous solo exhibitions and his pieces are included in private collections in the USA, Spain, and Switzerland. His art has been reviewed in various publications and national newspapers such as the WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung). His paintings explore fundamental forces of existence in their upheavals, while maintaining an abstract and expressive formal language. However, the inherent chaos finds a rigorous harmony in his art. The principle of "floating" as a fundamental element of life is consistently reflected in his predominantly dynamic paintings.
