About this artwork
La chute (English: the fall). The painting dares to use an unusual color contrast by juxtaposing a shade of violet with a bright light green that could also be used in product advertising due to its intensity. The dynamics of the image move towards the bottom left corner, dominating the entire painting. There is the only object in the painting, a three-dimensional round body that could represent a whirlpool, but perhaps also a flower, a microbe...… This is a main motif in Ernst-Martin Heel's paintings, which should be understood as a metaphor for life in all its opposites. Heel's painting is expressive due to the color scheme and the dynamics inherent in the painting. In any case, it will immediately appeal to the viewer when they enter the room and draw their full attention because it is unusual and yet beautiful at the same time.
« For some, the motifs of the highly expressive pictures by the Bonn artist Ernst-Martin Heel resemble a natural event. -Kölner Rundschau »
Ernst-Martin Heel is an artist living in Germany. Over the past decades, he has presented his work to an art-loving public in numerous solo exhibitions and his pieces are included in private collections in the USA, Spain, and Switzerland. His art has been reviewed in various publications and national newspapers such as the WAZ (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung). His paintings explore fundamental forces of existence in their upheavals, while maintaining an abstract and expressive formal language. However, the inherent chaos finds a rigorous harmony in his art. The principle of "floating" as a fundamental element of life is consistently reflected in his predominantly dynamic paintings.
