About this artwork
‘Homesick’ is part of a working series of memories from feelings and illusion in response to my experiences of searching for the hometown of mind.
The instability of being in physical unfamiliar places make to realize that the repetition in everyday life was actually precious and that the repetition itself was life. This internal repetition is greater than the pleasure principle of craving for newness, and this feeling is expressed as a longing feeling… of childhood nostalgia. The process of continuous searching for the hometown of mind reflects meditation. Through this process creating the non-existed place or only existed in mind, I continue to gain a peaceful mind and feel belonged.

Eury (Yeahgean) Kim is an award-winning painter who grew up in Australia and now resides in South Korea. She has displayed her works in Belgium, China, Singapore and South Korea. Kim’s dreamlike imagery evokes a hidden and poetic atmosphere. Using techniques from both Eastern and Western artistic traditions, she employs acrylics, oils, mother of pearls on canvas, wood, and various objects in her pieces.
