About this artwork
Blue Smoke
By Eva Christin Laska
"Blue Smoke" is part of my series Stranger Days, a body of work exploring emotion, memory, and the feeling of disconnection.
This piece reflects a moment of quiet introspection — like a thought or feeling that rises and fades, just out of reach. The soft blue tones speak of melancholy, stillness, and the beauty found in uncertainty.
With Blue Smoke, I invite the viewer into a space where time slows down, and emotion… lingers in the air like something half-remembered. It’s a glimpse into the invisible — a mood, a memory, a stranger day.
Eva Laska, trained as an illustrator in Budapest and based in Norway, blends photography, digital manipulation, and painterly techniques to create poetic, emotionally charged images. She fuses realism with abstraction, using layered digital processes to transmute photographs into evocative, painterly compositions rich with mystery and symbolism. Her works explore themes of memory, human presence, and the uncanny, drawing viewers into reflective worlds that evoke emotion, curiosity, and a lingering sense of wonder.
