About this artwork
Art inspired in the color of the Southern California coast after dawn. One of the earliest pliages the artist created after his visit to the Centre Pompidou in 2013. The black denim fabric was folded, tied, scrunched, then doused with color, and unfolded. He used a dark and flexible denim, a porous fabric, instead of a white rigid, untreated canvas Hantai frequently used. He did that to impress the fluidity of the ocean on the piece. The fabric… was coated with white Gesso tying and folding the fabric, creating irregular rectangular spaces resembling a tableau. This painting was selected as part of a 6 month solo exhibit at the Long Beach Public Library in Southern California. It has a record of having seen over 3000 times on line. Art work is 44 x 73" x 3 inches mix media (gesso, pastel and acrylic paint) on denim fabric. Art is stretched, but can be dismounted and shipped rolled on a box.
