Along the banks of the Mekong at sunset, these kids noticed me and began posing while I was photographing them in spontaneous poses. This is the final shot, taken from afar, with a telephoto lens. Like every work on this page, the photo is part of a reportage, in this case a general piece on Laos, the land of smiles.
LIKE ALL THE OTHER PHOTOS IN THIS GALLERY, THIS IMAGE IS FROM A REPORTAGE DONE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL PRESS. LIKE EVERY OTHER PHOTO… IN THIS GALLERY, I BELIEVE IT IS AN IMAGE WITH SOMETHING EXTRA, A MIX OF AESTHETICS AND MESSAGE, AN IMAGE THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.
Born in Livorno, a citizen of the world by vocation. Always a traveler, professionally involved in photography all my life. Federico Tovoli is a self-taught photographer who trained with the great masters of photography. Constructing stories through images (photojournalism) is the foundation of his work. He prefers color but also uses black and white. Like all photographers of his generation, he began with film, but hasn't completely abandoned it. He has photographed in 50 countries. He has created photojournalism throughout Europe, India, Thailand, Laos, and throughout South America. His work ranges from landscapes, street photography, and portraits, but above all, "capturing the decisive moment." His work profoundly conveys the human stories and emotions that intertwine with the environment, eliciting empathy and engagement in the viewer. His work has been published in leading magazines in Europe and the Americas.
