This is currently the only work that isn't part of an editorial photojournalism. An NGO commissioned me to do a reportage on their project in the northern Andes. The project included portraits of the beneficiary families. They stiffened in front of the camera, and everyone, including the children, assumed an expression somewhere between stern and bored. This family, who lived on a remote farm, was particularly nice, but they still stiffened while… posing. I found a way to make them laugh... LIKE EVERY OTHER PHOTO IN THIS GALLERY, I THINK IT'S AN IMAGE WITH SOMETHING EXTRA, A MIX OF AESTHETICS AND MESSAGE, AN IMAGE THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.
Born in Livorno, a citizen of the world by vocation. Always a traveler, professionally involved in photography all my life. Federico Tovoli is a self-taught photographer who trained with the great masters of photography. Constructing stories through images (photojournalism) is the foundation of his work. He prefers color but also uses black and white. Like all photographers of his generation, he began with film, but hasn't completely abandoned it. He has photographed in 50 countries. He has created photojournalism throughout Europe, India, Thailand, Laos, and throughout South America. His work ranges from landscapes, street photography, and portraits, but above all, "capturing the decisive moment." His work profoundly conveys the human stories and emotions that intertwine with the environment, eliciting empathy and engagement in the viewer. His work has been published in leading magazines in Europe and the Americas.
