About this artwork
In this piece, we introduce Ahab, the captain of the ship Pequod, blending into his surroundings. He's part sea, part sky, and part white demon "Moby Dick" who ripped off his leg earlier. Moby Dick represents, on the one hand, the tireless search to achieve those dreams of a life that are in the abyss of meaning, something that has absorbed part of your own life and, at the same time, is the engine that drives you and gives you meaning to your life.… It is very close to what any artist faces in their growth process.
Ahab's Dream is an original 72cm wide x 92cm high acrylic on canvas made by Felix Zilinskas in his studio in Barcelona, Spain between December 2020 and January 2021.
Felix Zilinskas is an artist based in Spain whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States. A large part of his work is inspired by music, as he is also a musician. Zilinskas enjoys unraveling the messages in song lyrics to "squeeze them to the fullest" by investigating and developing their strangest parts. For example, one of his series was inspired by the characters in Beatles songs. His vibrant pieces are created with acrylics.
