« Flowers are my creative language, they let me celebrate the light and embrace the darkness. Inspired by the talking city walls, where 'the spray can is mightier than the sword'. »
The women in Fleurien Dingemans' family have painted flowers for generations and the traditions of the past resonate through her contemporary style. Her works also explore an array of themes which include the end of innocence; authenticity; blurred boundaries between male and female energy; and the mix of vulnerability and strength, with the main focus being placed on female emancipation. Dingemans combines elements of collage, with paints, pigments, ink, and drawing materials to create her unique interpretations of the flower.
