About this artwork
In this work, I mixed acrylic and pencil to capture the raw energy of expressionism. Here is its story:
Vout, vout, vout… Squatman's weapon slices through the air to "slam" the violent individuals within the squat. At the call of his name, his stealthy clapper, used like a boomerang, restores order to the shacks built of stinking sheet metal and construction planks. His faithful sidekick, a bastard from the neighborhood, warns of the danger with… his ear extensions, perceiving any suspicious noise from a dozen kilometers away. Legend has it that they acquired their powers by intruding into a forbidden zone, an artificial island from which fireworks are fired.
Stéphane Foucaud, a graduate in visual arts from Strasbourg, expresses himself primarily through painting. His technique blends American Neo-Impressionism and tribal art, with an innovative use of acrylic, Indian ink, and burnt paper collages. His art, known as neo-tribal, revisits the cultural heritage of his native New Caledonia, oscillating between mythology, history, and identity. His works, vibrant with color and form, captivate the viewer, evoking a striking tension between the ancient and the contemporary, the particular and the universal.
