About this artwork
In this work, I captured the fragile and ephemeral beauty of the elements using a very long exposure. This block of ice, formed from the melting of Iceland's largest ice cap, Vatnajökull, washed up on this dark sandy beach after a long journey, evoking a sense of melancholy in the face of the inevitable passage of time. My goal was to capture the striking contrast between the purity of the ice and the darkness of the surroundings, highlighting the… poetry of a fleeting moment. This delicate and powerful photograph will add a touch of contemplation and wonder to any space.
Frédéric Demeuse, photographer and naturalist, was immersed in art from a young age. He employs a variety of techniques to reveal the hidden beauties of the "great outdoors" in all its richness and complexity; from the subtle details of the animal, mineral, and plant worlds to the most remote forests and grandiose landscapes. His works, often idealized and timelessly black and white, inspire wonder and invite deeper reflections, evoking a profound and restorative connection with the extraordinary diversity of our biosphere.
