About this artwork
The work reflects on the great weight that comes with wearing masks, on the tremendous anguish in which we immerse ourselves when we are not consistent with ourselves, with who we really are. The character in the play has something of Sisyphus, but instead of carrying a rock, he carries his own cross: his past, his culture, ideologies, conventions, with everything that prevents him from being a free individual, with everything that does not allow…
him to see. The work is made with Contè a Paris pencil, it has highly worked, corporeal areas, while others are barely sketched, this in order to give visual richness to the drawing, contrast, texture, and to reinforce the idea of ambiguity, of transience. The work has drawing fixative applied.
