About this artwork
The bottom of the bay of Douarnenez seen from the coast, near Morgat.
The Ménez Hom dominates the peninsula in front of the coasts of the Aber and the large beaches at the bottom of the bay.
A bluish universe, punctuated only by a few white touches from the villages and a few black touches from the islets in the bay.
The drawing that served as the basis for the painting dates from Thursday, August 6, 2020.
Dry pastel on reconstituted wood panel…
Bottom and plexiglass for temporary protection, hanging ring

« My first artist's workshop was outdoors, on the beach and in sandcastles, at that age when everything is allowed and when one can work freely on shapes or colors. »
François Cusson is an experienced artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Austria. For him, there are a few extraordinary days throughout each year, "when the air is so pure, so crisp that everything is transformed: the contours are sharper, the colors more subtle, the world is brighter and more luminous". Such days inspire Cusson to capture those magic and fleeting moments.
