About this artwork
This triptych is my love letter to Kent, a county in the South East of England. I live and work in a Kent seaside town, the erstwhile home to smugglers, ne're-do-wells and the King's Men. On a clear day I can see France and this always makes me wonder what it must have been like during WWI to hear the sound of the guns echoing across the Channel.
The county of Kent is known as the Garden of England due to its lush produce and crops. Fruit and… hop picking is an historical activity that governed the social rhythms of this county and remains popular today. Combine these abundant fields with views over the sea and the Downs, fantastic sunsets and rises and you have my inspirations for this triptych.
This particular work in my Colours in Conversation series celebrates the mesmerising colours of nature from sky to sea and how they never fail to surprise and thrill.
Allowing for a 2cm gap between the artworks, the triptych measures 80 x 56cms in total.
