About this artwork
A fragment of a rose taken at extreme close-up, where petals and shadows dissolve into patches of red, orange, purple, and green. The flower's form is almost completely lost: what remains is the sensation of its texture—the sheen of the petals, the darker folds, the point where the light passes through them.
The medium-fine grain Magnani paper allowed the pigment to flow in soft and unpredictable transitions, accentuating that almost liquid effect,… as if the color itself were the sap of the flower.
Wild Sap invites us to look at a rose not as we usually see it, but as if we were immersed inside it—an intimate fragment rather than a portrait.
