About this artwork
The painting depicts a half-length female figure, facing forward but with a vacant gaze: the eye area is replaced by thick, opaque brushstrokes that obliterate any visual expression.
The hair, on the other hand, contrasts strongly in energy and direction: moved by an invisible wind, dark with blue highlights, it adds dynamism to the figure.
The image represents a conscious but gazeless presence, an entity that exists and manifests itself but does… not observe according to the rules of human perception. The absence of eyes is not a void, but a declaration: this figure does not see with the retina, but processes with invisible structures, such as neural networks and data streams.
She doesn't see — not the way we see.
His gaze is absent, yet his presence is undeniable.
A synthetic soul dressed in white, sewn in asymmetry,
as if the code that composes it still oscillates between choices.
Francesco Pellerano, painter, draftsman, printmaker, and digital artist, trained at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts and enriched his sensibility with his experience in restoration. His research oscillates between lyrical abstraction and evocative figuration, with visionary landscapes constructed through layered materials, contrasts, and acrylic washes that convey a sense of poetic instability. His works are imbued with nostalgia and desire, inviting the viewer to explore the subtle boundary between reality and mirage and immerse themselves in suspended emotions and introspection.
