About this artwork
A unique piece numbered in a series of eight, the series also includes variations in copper, silver, and gold leaf; and new leaf patinas give the work a contemporary character.
We use sustainable materials such as geo-mortar and rice husk, a recycled material derived from rice processing, thus reducing our environmental impact by using industrial waste. This is a defining characteristic of our work: an approach to sustainable art that we've been… pursuing for years, far beyond a simple trend.
We also created the world's largest portrait of Leonardo da Vinci as a senior citizen. After participating in numerous international exhibitions, it is now a city monument in Pavia and a symbol of contemporary gigantism in Italian sculpture, standing 5 meters tall. This "Saint Leonardo" derives from that monumental project. This Saint Leonardo has a halo of LED bulbs.
