About this artwork
Cardinale is a provocative and symbolic painting that questions the place of women within the Catholic Church. Through this work, I wanted to imagine a female figure invested with spiritual authority, strength, and dignity, in contrast to a tradition that still today denies women access to the priesthood and the highest religious offices.
This work is not an attack on faith, but a reflection on faith, justice, and evolution. It is part of a larger… collection of 12 paintings that explores the need for the Church to embrace the role women have always played through devotion, compassion, and commitment.
With Cardinale, I wish to create a dialogue through art and invite the viewer to reflect on spirituality, power and the urgency of change.

He works with various media—oil, acrylic, ink—on multiple supports, from traditional canvas to cardboard, giving his works a texture and an almost tactile physical presence. His works exude a gestural force, marked by the movement of the line and the almost choreographic energy of the application of color, like a painted dance that invites the viewer to feel as much as to contemplate.
